Just don’t say, “I’ll pray for you.”

It’s a nice thing to say.  But has someone ever told you that, and you had a pretty strong suspicion they wouldn’t follow through?  Even worse…have you ever said that to someone, fully meaning to pray for them, but forgot!  Oops.

What does this have to do with business networking?  Well, that analogy came to mind as the way some folks go about generating business within their networking group.  Out of sight, out of mind.  Sometimes never intending to help, at other times just too busy.

Let me encourage you to plan some time to dig up introductions for your networking friends…aim for 30 minutes to 2 hours.  Let your friends know you did this for them.  (This is business, so it’s okay to ask for reciprocity.)  Maybe say a prayer for them, too.

Whatever you do, the key is to be intentional and follow through.  Then your friends will know you mean it.
